Family (and Friends) Music Night!

Our 8th annual Family Music Night will be held at 7:00 pm on Friday, November 7 in the sanctuary of Westchester United Methodist Church.  This is a chance for students to perform with family members, friends, or each other.  The idea is for people to have fun making music together. So pull out that old saxophone, dust off your sheet music, or borrow a drum from the studio and tap along with your child!  Your teacher will help you put it all together.  Students are invited to perform one piece with a parent, grandparent, friend, sibling, or everyone together. Check the bulletin boards for sign-up sheets in October; space is limited.  There is no cost to participate in this event; however, a donation of canned food for the LAX Food Pantry is appreciated.

Rhythm Challenge 

Accept our Rhythm Challenge!  Learn to clap and count 20 patterns from the book Basics in Rhythm from November through April and receive a ribbon and your name on our Rhythm Masters board.  The book is available in the studios to take a look at; your teacher will choose your patterns.  The cost is $15, which includes your own copy of the book.  To participate, enroll by Oct. 12 (so we can order all the books).  Enrollment forms are on the bulletin boards. 

 

 

Little Fingers Club

Little Fingers Club is a workshop designed especially for young beginners.  It features theory games that reinforce what students are learning in their lessons and singing and movement activities that build musicianship.  It also gives children a chance to perform in front of each other in a fun, casual atmosphere.  (Students prepare 2 pieces to play.) We strongly recommend students participate in these workshops before our annual spring recitals.  Enrollment forms are on the bulletin boards.
